How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Company

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing and well-established engineering and fabrication business based in Winkleigh, Devon. This specialist company designs, manufactures and installs bespoke stainless steel process systems and structural solutions for major food production and industrial sites across the South West. With a strong pipeline of secured work, continued investment in its facilities and the launch of a new laser cutting operation, the business is entering an exciting new phase of growth. As part of this expansion, they are looking to appoint a Workshop Administrator to become a key part of the operational team. This is a varied and important position supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the workshop, procurement and production processes.
    The Role

Working closely with the management team, workshop staff and laser cutting division, you will play a central role in keeping operations organised, efficient and running smoothly. This is far more than a traditional administration role. You will be heavily involved in stock control, purchasing, supplier coordination, job tracking and supporting invoicing processes across a busy engineering environment. The successful Workshop Administrator will help ensure materials, consumables and information are always in place to support fabrication and welding activities without delays or downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who enjoys variety, takes pride in organisation and wants to become an important part of a close-knit and growing engineering business.
    Key Responsibilities

Manage stock levels and ordering processes for workshop materials and consumables
Coordinate with workshop and project teams regarding upcoming jobs and material requirements
Place, track and receive supplier orders
Monitor deliveries, resolve supplier queries and handle returns where required
Support the development and day-to-day running of the new laser cutting operation
Assist with job costing, invoice preparation and purchase invoice processing using Xero
Allocate costs to specific projects and maintain accurate records
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
Work closely with workshop staff to support production planning and operational efficiency
Provide general business and administrative support to the wider management team About You

We are looking for somebody organised, proactive and commercially aware who enjoys being involved in the operational side of a business. You may currently be working as a:
    Workshop Administrator
    Purchasing Administrator
    Production Administrator
    Accounts Assistant
    Buyer or Assistant Buyer
    Operations Administrator
Stock or Materials Controller You will ideally offer:

Previous experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction or fabrication environments
    Strong organisational and administrative skills
Experience dealing with suppliers, purchasing or stock control
Confidence using systems such as Xero or similar accounting software
Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with operational teams
    A practical and solutions-focused approach
The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a busy environment What’s On Offer

    Competitive salary depending on experience
Long-term opportunity within a growing and ambitious business
The chance to play a key role within a developing manufacturing operation
A varied position with genuine responsibility and autonomy
Supportive team culture with strong company values
The opportunity to help shape processes and systems as the business grows Why This Role?

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a successful and expanding engineering company at an exciting stage of its development.  For somebody who enjoys being at the centre of operations and keeping things running efficiently behind the scenes, this role offers genuine variety, visibility and long-term progression potential within a friendly and down-to-earth team environment
