How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We’re supporting schools across BS1, BS7, BS10, BS11, BS34, BS37 with a range of opportunities for Maths ECTs looking to secure the right start to their teaching career.

Because we work closely with so many schools across the city, we’re able to give you early access to vacancies before they’re widely advertised, arrange interviews quickly, and help match you with schools that suit your teaching style, strengths and career goals.

Full-time and part-time Maths teaching roles
    Permanent positions
Long-term opportunities with potential to become permanent
    Roles across KS3 and KS4
Opportunities in a range of Bristol secondary schools
Many schools are already arranging interviews and trial days before half term, and Maths teachers remain one of the most in-demand subjects across Bristol.

    Why work with Protocol Education?

We partner directly with secondary schools who trust us to support their September recruitment. Instead of applying through endless job boards, you’ll have a dedicated consultant helping you find schools that genuinely fit what you’re looking for.

    We can help you find:

    ✅ Paid to scale opportunities
✅ Supportive Maths departments and experienced mentors
✅ Schools with strong ECT programmes
✅ Clear behaviour systems and classroom support
✅ Opportunities to build confidence in your classroom practice
✅ Schools where staff wellbeing and development are prioritised

    What you can expect

    As a Maths ECT, you’ll:

Teach Maths across KS3 and KS4
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that build confidence and problem-solving skills
Develop strong classroom routines and behaviour management
Receive structured mentoring and ECT support
Gain experience in schools with supportive leadership teams and established departments
Some schools are recruiting permanently from September, while others are offering long-term roles with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract later in the academic year.

    Who these roles suit

    These opportunities are ideal for:

PGCE students completing teacher training this year
Maths ECTs searching for their first teaching role
    Graduates considering routes into teaching
    Teachers relocating to Bristol
Educators looking for supportive schools to begin their career
Your first teaching role can shape the rest of your career, which is why we focus on placing ECTs into schools where they’ll be supported, developed and given the opportunity to grow in confidence from day one.

    What Protocol Education offers

Competitive pay, including paid to scale opportunities
Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies or hidden deductions
Free CPD and ongoing professional development
    Interview preparation and application support
A dedicated local consultant who understands Bristol schools
Access to long-term and permanent opportunities across our partner schools
Schools are already preparing for September, and strong Maths teachers continue to be highly sought after across Bristol secondary schools. Whether you already know the type of school you’re looking for or simply want advice on where to start, we’re here to help make the process straightforward and supportive.

Apply now or get in touch to hear about current Maths ECT opportunities across Bristol secondary schools.
