How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Kings Hill/Remote (with occasional office attendance required)

    Salary: £32,126 to £37,863 per annum

    Contract type: Permanent

    Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

    You will be a trusted and valued contributor within the Energy & Carbon team, playing a key role in supporting trading activity, data analysis and market insight. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, with real visibility and responsibility in a fast-paced environment.

    This role would suit an analyst or early-career trader looking to develop their expertise, offering the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in energy markets, trading activity and data-led decision making.

    You will play a key role in supporting trading and analytical activity, ensuring accurate data, timely market insights and effective portfolio management.

    This is a role where attention to detail, resilience and sound judgement are essential, with responsibility for supporting both front-end trading activity and back-end analysis.

    What you’ll be doing

    •Supporting energy trading activity across power and gas markets to ensure accurate execution and reporting

    •Analysing large data sets to provide insights that support trading and procurement decisions

    •Validating trades, reconciliations and pricing to ensure accuracy and compliance

    •Working closely with internal teams and suppliers to align data and portfolio positions

    •Preparing reports and market updates to support decision making

    •Maintaining procurement schedules and supporting contract performance

    •Developing tools and solutions to improve data visualisation and reporting

    •Monitoring market trends and regulatory changes to support informed trading decisions

    •Supporting the development of new products and services within the energy offering

    What we’re looking for

    •Proven experience working with data analysis, trading environments or similar analytical roles

    •Strong Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft tools such as Power BI or similar

    •The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively

    •Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

    •Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    •A proactive and solutions-focused approach

    •An interest in energy markets or trading environments

    •Minimum A-level education or equivalent
