How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client offers a stable pipeline of work, a supportive leadership team, and clear opportunities for career progression within a growing organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the commercial management of civils, groundworks, and utility infrastructure projects.

    * Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting, and cash flow.

    * Oversee valuations, variations, compensation events, and final accounts.

    * Administer NEC contracts and ensure contractual compliance.

    * Support estimating and tendering activities where required.

    * Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.

    * Provide commercial guidance and leadership to project teams.

    * Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.

    * Ensure timely procurement and effective subcontractor management.

    * Contribute to strategic business growth and framework development.

    * Support operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and efficiently.

    Essential Experience & Skills

    * Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering.

    * Strong background in groundworks, utilities, drainage, highways, or infrastructure projects.

    * Experience working on United Utilities (UU) projects or utility frameworks.

    * Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.

    * Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills.

    * Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain relationships.

    * Strong negotiation and communication skills.

    * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    * Proficient in commercial reporting and forecasting.

    * Full UK driving licence
