How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Core Subject Tutor SEN (Stoke-on-Trent)
    Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
    Pay Rate: GBP30 per hour (starting rate)
    Job Type: Temporary | Part-Time | 20 hours per week

    We are seeking an experienced Core Subject Tutor to provide one-to-one support for students across Stoke-on-Trent. This role is ideal for tutors, teachers, or education professionals with experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learners working below expected academic levels.

    The successful candidate will have a strong background delivering personalised support in Maths and English and must have a minimum of 6 months UK-based tutoring or teaching experience.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Deliver tailored one-to-one tuition in core subjects, including Maths and English.
    Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning styles, emotional needs, and academic targets.
    Support students with SEN to improve confidence, engagement, and attainment.
    Build positive and consistent relationships that encourage progress and participation.
    Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback where required.
    Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
    Essential Requirements:
    Minimum 6 months UK-based tutoring or teaching experience.
    Experience supporting students with SEN in one-to-one or small group settings.
    Knowledge of strategies to support learners with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
    Experience delivering Maths and/or English tuition.
    Right to work in the UK.
    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
    Desirable:
    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Teaching Assistant experience, or relevant educational background.
    Familiarity with the UK curriculum and differentiated learning strategies.
    Experience supporting learners preparing for GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications.
