How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Geotechnical Engineer

    Crawley

    We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy based in Crawley, offering a primarily remote working setup with occasional travel to site and office meetings. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional seeking flexibility while continuing to work on a diverse range of residential, commercial, rail, and infrastructure projects across the UK.

    The successful Senior Geotechnical Engineer will take a leading role in project delivery, providing technical expertise on geotechnical design, ground investigations and reporting while supporting junior team members remotely and maintaining strong client relationships.

    The successful Senior Geotechnical Engineer will:

    Hold a degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related subject
    Have strong UK consultancy experience within geotechnics
    Be experienced in managing and interpreting ground investigations
    Have a solid understanding of foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks
    Be confident producing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports
    Be comfortable working independently within a remote environment
    Hold a full UK driving licence
    Ideally be chartered or working towards chartershipKey responsibilities:

    Managing geotechnical projects from inception through to completion
    Producing detailed geotechnical assessments and recommendations
    Reviewing site investigation data and laboratory results
    Mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical work
    Liaising directly with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
