How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team supporting the delivery of major power and energy infrastructure projects in and around Chesterfield.

    This is a key role within a growing energy programme, offering the opportunity to take ownership of complex infrastructure packages and play a central part in the commercial success of high-value UK projects.

    The Opportunity

    As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of power transmission, substation, and associated utilities projects, ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance, and effective change management throughout the project lifecycle.

    Working closely with project teams and senior stakeholders, you will provide commercial leadership across multiple workstreams, helping to drive successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure.

    This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week on site in Chesterfield, offering flexibility alongside strong project exposure.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the commercial management of power and energy infrastructure projects
    Administer and manage contracts under NEC (Option C experience desirable)
    Manage the full lifecycle of Compensation Events and change control processes
    Maintain accurate control of Defined Cost, budgets, and cost forecasting
    Prepare and review detailed commercial reports and financial updates
    Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts, and valuations
    Support risk management and identification of commercial opportunities
    Provide clear commercial advice to project teams and senior stakeholders
    Ensure compliance with NEC processes and client commercial requirements
    Support negotiation and resolution of contractual matters as required

    About You

    Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the power, utilities, or infrastructure sector
    Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
    Experience with NEC Option C target cost contracts highly desirable
    Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, and change management
    Demonstrable experience managing complex infrastructure projects
    Excellent commercial awareness and analytical capability
    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
    Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments
