How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure delivery team supporting complex tunnelling and underground works across high-profile UK projects.

This is a key commercial role offering the opportunity to work on technically challenging civil engineering schemes, operating within a strong client-side environment where commercial control and contract expertise are critical to success.

    The Opportunity

You will take responsibility for the full commercial management of major infrastructure packages, working under NEC Option C (Target Cost) contracts. This is a client-facing position where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust cost control, accurate change management, and effective contract administration across complex tunnelling and heavy civils works.

You'll be working closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams, providing expert commercial guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key Responsibilities

Full commercial management of infrastructure works under NEC Option C
Administration and management of Compensation Events from instruction through to agreement
Control and reporting of Defined Cost across complex project packages
Preparation of cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting
Management of subcontractor accounts and commercial agreements
Supporting procurement, tendering, and contract negotiation activities
Providing commercial advice and guidance to project delivery teams and client stakeholders
Managing change control processes and mitigating commercial risk
Ensuring compliance with NEC procedures and client commercial governance

    What We're Looking For

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
Tunnelling experience highly desirable (rail, utilities, highways, or deep excavation works)
Strong working knowledge of NEC Option C contracts (essential)
Excellent understanding of Defined Cost and target cost frameworks
Demonstrable experience managing Compensation Events end-to-end
Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work effectively in complex, high-value infrastructure environments
Strong communication skills and attention to detail

    Why This Role?

This is an excellent opportunity to work on some of the UK's most challenging tunnelling and infrastructure projects, where your commercial expertise will directly impact project outcomes. You'll be part of a collaborative client-side environment with strong exposure to major programmes and long-term career potential.

If you are a Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC Option C experience and a background in tunnelling or major civil engineering projects, this is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your career.
