How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team, supporting the delivery of major green energy infrastructure projects across Yorkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading commercial role on a flagship programme that is directly contributing to the UK's transition to sustainable energy. You will be working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment alongside engineers, project managers, and senior client stakeholders.

    About the Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the full commercial lifecycle across multiple infrastructure packages, ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance, and effective financial management throughout project delivery.

You will be responsible for both strategic oversight and hands-on commercial administration, supporting successful delivery outcomes across complex energy projects.

    Key Responsibilities

Full end-to-end commercial management of major energy infrastructure projects
Preparation, development, and ongoing management of budgets, cost plans, and forecasts
Detailed cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial performance analysis
Administration and management of subcontractor and supplier contracts
Application of value engineering techniques to optimise project outcomes
Identification, assessment, and management of project risks and opportunities
Full change management lifecycle, including variations and contractual claims
Providing clear, informed commercial advice to project teams and senior stakeholders
Ensuring strict compliance with client and company commercial procedures
Supporting procurement activities and contract negotiations where required
Working closely with delivery teams to ensure cost certainty and programme alignment

    About the Projects

You will be working on high-value Yorkshire Green energy infrastructure schemes, supporting the development of sustainable power networks that are critical to regional and national decarbonisation goals. These projects are technically complex, commercially significant, and strategically important within the UK energy sector.

    Candidate Requirements

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects
Strong understanding of commercial frameworks, ideally including NEC and/or JCT contracts
Demonstrable experience in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
Strong track record in subcontract management and negotiation
Confident in managing change control, variations, and commercial risk
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and client teams
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
Willingness to work 2-3 days per week on site in Yorkshire (York area)

    Why This Role?

This is a standout opportunity to be part of a nationally significant green energy transformation programme, where your commercial expertise will directly support the delivery of sustainable infrastructure. You'll gain exposure to high-value projects, senior stakeholders, and a collaborative environment focused on innovation and long-term impact.
