How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Our Client is one of the UK’s leading pioneers in the race to develop and manufacture the latest Battery technology for industry, with an initial primary focus on supporting our ever-growing Automotive manufacturing sector (but not exclusively!), ensuring that there will be a brighter and greener future for us all.

    As part of this growth, we are now actively seeking an experienced Business Development Manager, who certainly has Engineering experience, more wholly an Automotive and/or Battery industry background. On offer to the successful candidate is a competitive basic salary, together with a full and comprehensive benefits package, to include a lucrative car allowance scheme and hybrid working. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a dynamic and innovative organisation at the forefront of Battery manufacturing, prototype development, and engineering consultancy.

    Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, maintaining client relationships, and supporting the delivery of high-value technical solutions. This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of Battery systems, materials, and manufacturing processes who is eager to grow their career in a fast-evolving, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the battery industry.

    Your duties and responsibilities will be:
    To identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities within the Battery manufacturing and energy storage sectors.
    Engage with clients to understand their technical and commercial needs, and propose tailored solutions across prototype builds, process development, and consultancy services.
    Follow the internal process to develop commercial proposals and submissions in collaboration with technical and commercial teams.
    Negotiate and win new business.
    Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including OEMs, suppliers, research institutions, and government bodies.
    Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to inform strategic planning and identify growth areas.
    Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote our capabilities and expand our network.
    Maintain accurate records and provide regular reporting on pipeline development, sales performance, and customer feedback.You will have the following qualifications & experience:
    You should ideally have a relevant Degree in Material Science, Engineering and/or a related technical or commercial discipline, although a suitable HND qualification, and/or plenty of relevant experience, might be considered.
    Should be experienced in Business Development or Technical Sales within advanced engineering services, Battery manufacturing, or other related manufacturing industries.
    You will have a proven track record in selling complex technical services such as prototype manufacturing, process development, or engineering consultancy.
    Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills are needed.
    You will have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
    Willingness to travel for client engagements, site visits, and industry events is needed.It’s great if you also have the following:
    A strong understanding of Battery technologies and electrochemistry (e.g., Li-ion, solid-state), Battery manufacturing processes, and industry trends is a bonus.This position is available with immediate effect.
