How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you looking to take a lead role delivering complex mechanical engineering solutions within a highly regulated environment?
    Do you have extensive experience guiding mechanical design from front-end studies through to commissioning, particularly on technically demanding projects?
    Are you motivated by mentoring engineers while working at the forefront of critical infrastructure programmes?

    The Opportunity
    This is an exciting chance to join a well-established engineering consultancy delivering high-value projects across the UK, supporting programmes from early concept through to construction and operational support.

    This role would suit candidates working in these roles
    Principal Mechanical Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Lead, Mechanical Engineering Manager, Mechanical Project Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Consultant, Mechanical Systems Engineer.

    Your duties and responsibilities will be
    Lead and deliver mechanical engineering studies across multiple project phases, from front-end development through to commissioning and operational support
    Develop and review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements
    Provide technical input on complex mechanical handling systems, bulk or powder-based processes, and specialist mechanical equipment in controlled environments
    Interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams, supply chain partners and internal specialists to ensure robust, coordinated solutions
    Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to technical assurance and continuous improvement within the teamYou will have the following qualifications and experience
    Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
    Significant post-graduate experience delivering mechanical engineering design within the nuclear sector or another regulated industry
    Strong knowledge of mechanical design through all lifecycle stages, including design substantiation, supplier document review and site support
    Background in producing mechanical solutions that consider manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation and eventual decommissioning
    Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to achieve the necessary security clearanceGet in touch now
