How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    Lead the development of preliminary and detailed designs for overhead line projects, including associated equipment such as foundations, conductors, conductor systems, and structural elements
    Prepare, check, and submit design documentation including Design Intent Documents, Design Criteria Reports, and analysis reports, with supporting calculations
    Record and manage design data and decisions
    Work alongside and support senior engineering staff
    Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, particularly Health & Safety and CDM regulations
    Review engineering documentation for feasibility and compliance with client requirements, supporting accurate project budgeting
    Ensure designs and construction practices align with current legislation, policies, and operational requirements
    Review method statements and risk assessments, liaise with construction teams, and support implementation of designs throughout project stages
    Mentor junior engineers
    Collaborate across teams and offices to deliver integrated solutions
    Support development of internal policies, procedures, and QA systems
    Undertake additional duties as required by management
    Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits requiring adherence to health and safety proceduresQualifications and Experience:

    Qualifications

    Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
    A-level (or equivalent) in Mathematics
    Working towards or interested in professional membership (e.g. relevant engineering institutions)Experience

    Around 2+ years' post-graduate industry experience
    Familiarity with industry software (e.g. overhead line design tools or similar)
    Working knowledge of relevant standards and regulationsKey Attributes:

    Logical and pragmatic problem-solver
    Able to contribute ideas and deliver safe, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions
