How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Associate Geoenvironmental Consultant
    Basingstoke (Hybrid Working Available)
    £70,000 - £75,000

    A well-established and growing environmental consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Geoenvironmental Consultant to join their team in Basingstoke. This is a key strategic hire aimed at strengthening both technical delivery and business development capabilities within the geoenvironmental division.

    This role is ideal for a Chartered Scientist (CSci) with a proven track record in delivering complex contaminated land projects and, importantly, the ability to win and develop new business.

    The Role

    You will take a leading role in managing and delivering geoenvironmental projects while also driving growth across the region. Responsibilities will include:

    Leading and delivering contaminated land and geoenvironmental projects
    Providing technical oversight and mentoring junior staff
    Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
    Identifying and securing new business opportunities
    Preparing and reviewing technical reports (Phase I/II, risk assessments, remediation strategies)
    Supporting the strategic growth of the team and wider businessAbout You

    Chartered Scientist (CSci) or working towards chartership
    Strong background in geoenvironmental/contaminated land consultancy
    Demonstrable experience in business development and winning work
    Excellent report writing and project management skills
    Strong commercial awareness and client-facing ability
