How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Design Manager - Central London

A well established main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering complex commercial cut & carve projects across Central London, is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager with a strong structural engineering background to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Design Manager looking to work on high profile commercial schemes involving major structural alterations, heavy refurbishment and high-specification projects within challenging city centre environments.

You will play a key role in managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project completion across multiple commercial projects.

    Key responsibilities include:
    * Managing and coordinating the full design process across multiple commercial schemes
    * Reviewing structural, architectural and consultant design information
    * Leading consultant coordination meetings and driving design team performance
    * Identifying and resolving buildability, sequencing and technical challenges
    * Managing design programmes and information release schedules
    * Liaising closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams
    * Ensuring compliance with current UK Building Regulations and statutory requirements

This role would suit an established Design Manager from a main contractor background with previous experience delivering commercial cut & carve / refurbishment projects, alongside a strong understanding of structural engineering and complex structural interventions.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured Central London projects, excellent career progression opportunities and exposure to some of the capital's most technically challenging commercial refurbishment schemes.

Competitive salary plus an excellent benefits package
