How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.

    Job description

    Our client is a national multi-service provider delivering electrical, drainage, pumping and lighting solutions across the UK. The Group is rapidly expanding and includes a dedicated Renewables Team delivering end-to-end low-carbon solutions for commercial, industrial and public sector clients.

    Location Stevenage: Office-based with hybrid working and frequent travel to client sites across the UK.

    Working hours: 08:00am – 17:00pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility to support project delivery, client meetings and operational requirements.

    The role of a renewables Project Manager

    To manage the end-to-end delivery of Renewables projects across EV charging infrastructure, Solar PV, BESS and associated electrical infrastructure works. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities to ensure safe, compliant and commercially successful delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

    The Project Manager will support the Head / Director of Renewables in driving operational performance, maintaining delivery standards, managing client expectations and implementing scalable project delivery processes across the division.

    Main duties

    * Manage the delivery of multiple Renewables projects across the UK from mobilisation through to completion and handover.

    * Coordinate project activities including surveys, procurement, scheduling, installation, commissioning and client handover.

    * Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment including estimators, electrical engineers, project delivery teams and administrative support staff.

    * Manage subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.

    * Monitor project programmes, budgets, risks and resource allocation.

    * Ensure compliance with H&S legislation, company procedures and client requirements.

    * Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on programme, progress and delivery milestones.

    * Coordinate site activities, documentation and reporting across multiple live projects.

    * Support commercial processes including variations, change control and project cost tracking.

    * Assist with operational reporting, continuous improvement initiatives and delivery planning within the Renewables division.

    * Support commissioning, testing, snagging and final project close-out activities.

    Essentials

    * Proven experience in a Project Manager, Contracts Supervisor or similar operational delivery role within renewables, electrical contracting, M&E or utilities.

    * Experience delivering commercial renewable energy or electrical infrastructure projects.

    * Proven experience working within a multi-disciplinary team environment, including estimators, electrical engineers and administrative support staff.

    * Strong understanding of project delivery, programme management and operational coordination.

    * Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multiple concurrent projects.

    * Ability to manage project budgets, delivery risks and operational priorities effectively.

    * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

    * Good commercial awareness including variations, change control and project cost management.

    * Strong organisational and problem-solving capability.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * SSSTS qualification essential.

    * SMSTS qualification essential.

    * City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification essential.

    * EVC qualification essential.

    Technical requirements

    Good understanding of renewable energy project delivery including Solar PV, EV charging infrastructure, BESS and associated electrical works.

    Working knowledge of project lifecycle activities including surveys, design coordination, mobilisation, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.

    Understanding of construction and electrical project delivery processes within commercial and industrial environments.

    Familiarity with project documentation including programmes, RAMS, permits, commissioning records and handover documentation.

    Understanding of UK H&S legislation including CDM responsibilities and safe systems of work.

    Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and project programmes.

    Competent in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Outlook and reporting tools.

    Experience using CRM, ERP or project/job management systems preferred.

    Strong understanding of electrical testing, commissioning and compliance processes associated with renewable energy installations.

    Working knowledge of EV charging infrastructure standards, commissioning requirements and operational delivery expectations.

    Training & Certifications

    Relevant industry experience within electrical, renewables or construction environments.
    SSSTS qualification essential.
    SMSTS qualification essential.
    City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification essential.
    EVC qualification essential.
    ECS/CSCS card desirable.
    Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contract principles desirable.
    Desirable renewables-related knowledge/training across Solar PV or BESS technologies.
    Full UK driving licence required.
