How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Workshop Technician

    Location: Grays - Essex, Kent, East Sussex, Herts, East and North London

    Salary: Up to £35,000 per year - Depending on experience

    We're looking for motivated and reliable individuals to join Prime Hire Solutions as a Workshop Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing business that prides itself on delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining the highest standards across our hire fleet.

    As a Workshop Technician, your primary responsibility will be to maintain, inspect and repair our extensive range of hire equipment and assets, ensuring customers receive equipment that is safe, reliable and ready for use when they need it. This role is key to supporting the performance and efficiency of the branch and wider business.

    Formal qualifications are not essential, as full in-house training will be provided to candidates with the right mechanical aptitude, practical skills, or willingness to learn.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Test, inspect and carry out repairs on hire equipment and assets
    Ensure all hire equipment is clean, presentable and ready for hire
    Work closely with the Hire Desk team to manage hire turnaround efficiently
    Complete all records accurately and in line with company procedures
    Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and company policies at all times
    Manage spares and parts to minimise equipment downtime and off-hire periods
    Assist with stock takes and inventory management when required
    Support branch operations by assisting with counter duties, deliveries and collections when necessaryWhat We're Looking For:

    To succeed in this role, you will bring the following skills and behaviours:

    Experience working with machinery, tools or mechanical/electrical equipment (desirable but not essential)
    Relevant mechanical qualification or practical mechanical aptitude preferred
    College leavers or candidates looking to train and progress within the industry are encouraged to apply
    Organised and methodical approach to work with strong attention to detail
    Professional and customer-focused attitude
    Comfortable using IT equipment and systems
    Positive 'can do' attitude and willingness to support across the branch
