How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Chef De Partie
    Location: Wymondham
    Salary: £29,625 per annum
    Vacancy Type: Permanent,Starting July 2026
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week, working shifts include weekends and evenings over 52 weeks.

    Wymondham College has over 400 staff dedicated to supporting World Class education. The College currently is one of the top State Schools in the Country and is recognised as one of the highest performing State Schools in the East of England, this is backed up by its most recent Ofsted inspections which rated the College as Outstanding in both Education and Boarding 2023. The College is focused on providing outstanding quality to their students and staff not only in education but also through its provision of exceptional facilities and accommodation on site across its 83-acre campus.
    The Chef de Partie will be responsible to the Catering Manager, Executive Chef and Sous Chef for providing kitchen support to the College Catering Department. The post-holder will work as part of an enthusiastic and committed team producing the main meals for the campus.
    The post-holder will be required to comply with the Wymondham College Code of Conduct for Staff and Volunteers.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION
    The personal competencies expected of all College support staff are:
    * The ability to communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods and an awareness of the impact of your own communication on others;
    * Able to maintain positive relationships with all and able to work as an effective and flexible part of a team; willing to change methods of work and routines to benefit the team;
    * Willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions; the ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and accept challenges.
    The professional competencies expected of a Chef De Partie are:
    * Have excellent organisational skills
    * Have good communication skills
    * Have excellent people and customer service skills
    The qualifications and previous experience required for a Chef De Partie are:
    * A good level of literacy and numeracy;
    * Have previous experience in a busy kitchen, with an in-depth knowledge of food preparation, production and service;
    * Have good oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with all staff and students;
    * A good knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene regulations in relation to food preparation, service and storage.
    General Responsibilities
    The Chef de Partie will be responsible to the Catering Manager, Executive Chef and Sous Chef for providing kitchen support to the College Catering Department.

    A non-exhaustive list of specific responsibilities for the role is below and you will be required to undertake other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
    Specific Responsibilities
    * The production and service of meals and refreshments throughout the school day;
    * Catering for all school functions and courses held during the school term and non-term time;
    * Monitor stock control, rotation and records;
    * Assists in the preparation of college meals;
    * Ensures staff and kitchen hygiene requirements are met;
    * Ensures Health and Safety at work requirements are met;
    * Undertake other duties and responsibilities as the line manager may reasonably require.
    * Participate in the College programme of Performance Management and Continuing Professional Development;
