How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a driven sales professional who thrives on winning new business and solving complex customer challenges?

Do you enjoy getting to the route of manufacturing problems and delivering tailored, value-led solutions rather than selling off-the-shelf products?

    Salary: £40,000 – £65,000 depending on experience
Location: Attending Southampton office twice a month, travelling & meeting clients 4 days a week

I am exclusively partnering with a well-established manufacturing business that has recently completed a full strategic review and is now entering a growth phase. As part of this, they are looking to appoint a Sales Engineer to drive new business and deliver technical, solution-led sales across the engineering/manufacturing sector.

This is a client-facing role focused on identifying opportunities, understanding complex customer requirements and delivering tailored solutions. You will be out meeting customers, building relationships and working closely with internal technical teams to bring projects to life.

    Essential requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales role
Proven track record of winning new business within a manufacturing
Experience selling into manufacturing, or working for a manufacturing business
Strong understanding of engineering processes and technical requirements
Experience using a CRM system as a core part of the sales process
Demonstrable formal sales training and understanding of structured sales methodologies
An existing network of contacts within relevant supply chains
    Nice to have

Knowledge of elastomers, rubber or sealing technologies
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or CAD models
    Engineering or technical qualification
Experience working with customers in mechanical or general engineering sectors
    Awareness of FMCG manufacturing processes
    The role

Driving new business across UK manufacturing clients
Building and leveraging supply chain relationships
    Delivering consultative, solution-led sales
Working closely with technical teams on bespoke projects
Managing pipeline and activity through CRM (HubSpot)
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a consultative sales approach and wants to play a key role in a growing business.
