How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A respected specialist consultancy is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join their growing team in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Fire Engineer looking to work on complex and challenging projects across residential, commercial, heritage and high-rise buildings.

    The successful Fire Engineer will play a key role in delivering retrospective fire strategies, bespoke fire engineering solutions and practical fire safety advice for existing buildings. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the Fire Engineer will help clients navigate complex fire safety challenges while ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry best practice.

    The Fire Engineer's Role

    The successful Fire Engineer will:

    Develop and review fire strategies for existing and complex buildings.
    Provide bespoke fire engineering advice across a diverse project portfolio.
    Conduct site inspections and fire safety assessments.
    Identify fire risks and develop practical, compliant solutions.
    Prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations.
    Liaise with clients, design teams and key stakeholders.
    Support compliance with the Building Safety Act, Approved Document B and relevant British Standards.
    Research emerging technologies and innovative fire engineering solutions.
    Represent the business at client meetings and industry events.
    Collaborate closely with senior fire safety professionals on complex projects.The Fire Engineer

    The successful Fire Engineer should have:

    Degree or Level 5 qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline.
    AIFireE membership or higher with the Institution of Fire Engineers.
    Engineering Council EngTech status or above.
    Minimum 5 years' experience within Fire Engineering.
    Strong technical knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and guidance.
    Experience producing fire strategies and fire engineering reports.
    Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
    Strong report writing and presentation abilities.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    Experience within residential and high-rise buildings would be advantageous.In Return?

    Salary of £55,000 - £70,000.
