How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Manager – Key Accounts
    Salary: Competitive salary with discretionary bonus
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week
    Location: East Midlands (M1 corridor – Derby/Leicester/Nottingham region)

    As a Business Development Manager at FCC Environment, you will spearhead growth within the waste and recycling sector, identifying and targeting potential clients with an annual spend ranging from £60,000 to £1,000,000. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.

    This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

    What will you be doing?

    - Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share
    - Generate new leads by targeting potential clients within your designated territory
    - Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders
    - Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and opportunities for growth
    - Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and negotiations to secure new business
    - Manage your own pipeline, diary and KPIs to achieve sales targets
    - Work with internal teams to develop tailored waste management solutions for clients
    - Stay up to date with industry regulations, environmental policies, and innovations

    What are we looking for?

    - Proven experience in sales, business development or account management
    - Ideally, experience within the waste management or environmental services sector
    - Strong understanding of recycling, sustainability and waste management practices
    - Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets
    - Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
    - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    - Full UK driving licence
    - Self-motivation, confidence and a results-driven approach
