The Opportunity
This is a standout opportunity for an experienced passive fire surveyor to join a highly regarded and growing contractor delivering large-scale passive fire protection works across London and the M25 corridor. The business operates across social housing, education and public-sector frameworks, with a strong pipeline of national contracts and a reputation built on technical excellence and compliance.
You will play a central role in supporting major national frameworks — carrying out detailed compartmentation and fire door surveys, producing client-ready reports, and helping protect the buildings and people that depend on them. If you take pride in technical accuracy, work well independently and want a role where your expertise genuinely matters, this is it.
The Role
Compartmentation surveying is the primary focus of this role, with fire door surveys forming a critical secondary discipline. You will conduct in-depth site surveys across a variety of live environments — occupied residential properties, schools and public buildings — identifying compliance issues, recording findings and producing high-quality, detailed reports that directly inform remedial programmes.
This is a client-facing, technically demanding role that rewards precision, professionalism and the ability to manage a varied workload independently across multiple sites within London and the M25.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed compartmentation surveys — assessing fire stopping, cavity barriers, penetration seals, drylining and passive fire systems to the highest standard
* Carry out thorough fire door surveys including full compliance checks, gap tolerances, ironmongery, intumescent seals and signage
* Survey fire dampers and associated passive fire systems
* Identify defects and non-compliance issues in line with current regulations, standards and manufacturer guidelines
* Produce clear, detailed and client-ready reports outlining compliance status and recommended remedial actions
* Record all findings accurately using mobile surveying software with photographic evidence
* Liaise professionally with site teams, clients and contract managers to support project delivery
* Work across occupied sites with minimal disruption and a consistently professional approach
* Manage your own workload independently across multiple sites within London and the M25
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience conducting passive fire surveys with a primary focus on compartmentation and fire stopping
* Strong technical knowledge of fire door compliance — gaps, tolerances, ironmongery, seals and signage
* Experience producing detailed, client-ready survey reports using digital reporting systems
* Ability to work independently, managing a varied workload across multiple live sites
* Strong communication and client-facing skills
* FIRAS, BM TRADA or IFC awareness or accreditation — desirable
* FireQual qualification — desirable
* ASFP or NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection — desirable
* CSCS Card — desirable
* DBS check or willingness to obtain — desirable
* Full UK Driving Licence — required
What's On Offer
* £40,000 – £55,000 (including paid travel time) per annum depending on experience
* Company vehicle & fuel card
* Long-term, stable opportunity with a growing national passive fire specialist
* Exposure to major national frameworks and secured contracts
* Ongoing support, training and development opportunities
