How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company
    You'll be joining a well‑established building services consultancy with a strong reputation across the wider built‑environment sector. The business works with clients in public buildings, commercial developments, environmental projects, and education facilities.     Your new role
    As a Graduate / Early‑Career Electrical Design Engineer, you'll support the delivery of electrical design and technical consultancy across a wide range of projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you'll be involved in:
    Assisting with feasibility studies and early‑stage design development
    Supporting the production of electrical services designs from RIBA Stages 0-4
    Preparing technical documentation, reports, and drawings
    Completing site‑based surveys, condition assessments, and inspections
    Helping to review contractor information and technical submissions
    Collaborating with multidisciplinary internal teams to deliver high‑quality project outcomes

    This role offers a strong balance of office, site, and client exposure, giving you early responsibility while still ensuring structured support.

    What you'll need to succeed
    We're looking for someone motivated, eager to learn, and interested in building a career within electrical building services design. Ideally, you'll bring:
    A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
    Some exposure to building services electrical design - from a placement, internship, or junior role
    Competence in AutoCAD; familiarity with CAD/BIM tools such as Bluebeam or Revit is beneficial
    Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with both colleagues and clients
    A willingness to undertake site visits and travel across the Midlands
    A genuine interest in the built environment and progressing toward professional accreditation (IEng/CEng)
