How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting a Senior Site Manager who is local to Ilkeston (Derbyshire) for our client in Barnsley. The company are a construction main contractor who offer a full construction service from inception to completion for Blue Chip clients within the Retail, Student Accommodation, Healthcare, Leisure, Industrial and Commercial Sectors. They work with clients such as Pure Gym, M&S, the NHS, John Lewis etc... They work on refurbishments, interior fit outs and new build projects between £0.5 and £8 million in value. They are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join the team as No1 on site. They have existing projects in Ilkeston, and they will have a number of years of follow-on projects in the same location. These projects are new build industrial and commercial units between £2-5 million in value. The Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of construction sites.

    Main responsibilities:

    * Coordinating and clearly directing both directly employed site staff and contractors.

    * Planning and programming all site activities and coordinating labour.

    * Working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure work is progressing according to the programme with effective cost control.

    * Promptly dealing with any issues and planning corrective actions.

    * Proving regular updates, attending and leading progress meetings and subcontractor meetings.

    * Maintaining the Group’s high quality and safety standards, working closely with our in-house Health, Safety and Environmental Team.

    Requirements:

    * Previous site/project management experience is essential

    * Previous experience working for main contractors on new build projects

    * You must be able to plan all aspects of construction operations and produce construction programmes. Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and strong commercial awareness are required.

    * Strong interpersonal, leadership and people management skills are essential. You must be friendly and professional at all times when directly dealing with colleagues, contractors, clients, professionals and all others within the supply chain.

    * An academic qualification (HNC, HND, Degree in a construction-related subject) would be an advantage.

    * We are ideally seeking a candidate with in-date qualifications and training such as SMSTS, First Aid, Black Managers CSCS card, asbestos awareness, working at height, scaffold inspection
