The successful candidate will play a key role within the department, managing a varied childcare caseload whilst providing expert legal advice and representation to parents, grandparents, other family members and children directly or through their CAFCASS appointed Children’s Guardian.

• Emergency Protection Orders and Police Protection Orders
• Special Guardianship Orders
• Placement Orders and Adoption Orders
• Pre-Proceedings matters
• Child Protection Conferences and Reviews
• Domestic abuse matters
• Child Arrangements Orders
• Prohibited Steps and Specific Issue Orders
• Legal Aid and CCMS procedures
• Managing your own caseload with limited supervision
• Preparing court bundles and instructing counsel
• Drafting witness statements, applications and legal documents
• Conducting advocacy where appropriate
The Candidate
• Qualified Solicitor status with at least 3 years’ PQE in Child Care Law
• Law Society Children Panel Accreditation
• Strong experience handling Legal Aid and CCMS matters
• Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently
• Excellent client care and communication skills
• Experience working with vulnerable clients in sensitive situations
• Strong drafting, advocacy and organisational skills
