How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Cadent Gas Ltd

Shape the regulatory frameworks that support the future of our network

As our Regulation & Market Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping how Cadent operates within current and future regulatory frameworks. This isn’t just about compliance — it’s about influencing change, developing innovative approaches and ensuring our business is well‑positioned for the evolving energy landscape.

This is a permanent role based at Ansty Business Park, Coventry, where you’ll sit within the Regulatory Strategy team and contribute to the development of regulatory and market frameworks that underpin the safe, efficient and commercially effective operation of our network. You’ll support work that directly influences how revenue is recovered through developing charging methodologies for customers connecting and using the network and how Cadent responds to future challenges such as decarbonisation, including biomethane, hydrogen and emerging energy systems.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and externally with bodies such as Ofgem and industry partners, providing insight, analysis and thought leadership to support strategic decision‑making and shape how the business recovers costs from customers.

    Why you’ll love this role:
Regulatory Strategy & Thought Leadership – Contribute to the development of regulatory frameworks and industry reform that shape the future energy system with a particular focus on charging methodologies.
Market Development – Support initiatives linked to charging methodologies, emerging technologies and future market models.
Stakeholder Engagement – Build relationships with regulators, industry bodies and internal stakeholders to influence outcomes.
Insight & Analysis – Interpret complex regulatory developments and translate them into clear business impacts and actions.
Regulatory Submissions – Support consultation responses, reporting and regulatory engagement activity.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work across strategy, operations, finance and engineering teams to embed regulatory requirements.
Future Focus – Contribute to work supporting decarbonisation, including biomethane, hydrogen and evolving energy frameworks. What you’ll bring:
Regulatory or Energy Sector Experience – Understanding of regulatory frameworks, ideally within utilities or energy.
Charging Methodology experience – Experience of developing the rules for how we ensure fair and cost reflective charges to our customers
Analytical Capability – Ability to interpret complex data and regulatory developments and turn them into actionable insight.
Communication Skills – Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
Stakeholder Influence – Experience working with senior stakeholders and external bodies.
Commercial Awareness – Understanding of pricing, charging frameworks or market structures (desirable).
Adaptability – Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving regulatory environment.

Apply now to play a key role in shaping regulatory frameworks that support Cadent’s future performance and customer outcomes.

Interviews will be held from the week commencing Monday 29th June.

Disclaimer: While the closing date is set as mentioned, we reserve the right to close the application process earlier if necessary, depending on the unique circumstances of each role.
