We are looking to recruit an experienced and driven Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations and help develop a world-class production environment.
The Role
The Production Manager will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of production operations across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role within a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment where quality, planning, delivery performance and continuous improvement are critical.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing and Technical Sales to ensure customer requirements are achieved safely, efficiently and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Production
Manage daily production activities across machining, welding, brazing, assembly and inspection departments
Lead production planning activities using the Progress Plus ERP system
Monitor shop floor loading, work centre capacity and delivery performance
Ensure production schedules are achieved in line with customer requirements
Drive improvements in productivity and efficiency
Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, motivate and develop production personnel across multiple departments
Promote a positive, accountable and safety-focused culture
Ensure effective communication between departments
Health & Safety
Ensure safe systems of work are maintained throughout production
Monitor compliance with company Health & Safety procedures
Promote housekeeping and assist to implement 6S standards
Continuous Improvement
Drive Lean Manufacturing and operational improvement initiatives
Improve workflow efficiency and labour utilisation
Develop KPI reporting for production performance
Support implementation of improved manufacturing systems and processes
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Previous experience as a Production Manager or Senior Production Supervisor within manufacturing
Experience working in a low-volume, high-mix engineering environment
Strong understanding of production planning and scheduling
Experience leading multidisciplinary manufacturing teams
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within manufacturing
IT literate with experience using ERP/MRP systems
Desirable
Experience within Aerospace, Medical, Defence or Precision Engineering sectors
Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO quality systems
Experience using Progress Plus ERP
Understanding of welding, machining or vacuum technologies
Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement experience
The contracted hours for this position are 8am- 4pm Monday -Thursday and 8am-1.30pm Fridays
