How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Part-time Sensory Test Assistant
    Initial 6-month FTC
Ashby-de-la-Zouch (Home of Hula Hoops, popchips, NikNaks, and more…)

    This is a part-time role, working Monday to Thursday, 08:30am – 13:00pm

    Join our snack-loving team
We’re looking for a Sensory Test Assistant to join us at KP Snacks. If you’re ready to bring your ideas to the table, grow your skills and be part of a team that values what makes you, you – this could be your next big move.

    About the role

This is a great opportunity to join the Research and Development team at KP Snacks, the creative engine behind our much-loved brands. As a Sensory Test Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping us deliver high-quality sensory testing that shapes the future of our snacks.

You’ll support the smooth running of sensory panels across our UK sites, making sure samples are sourced, prepared and delivered accurately and on time. Working closely with the Sensory Team, you’ll help generate reliable insights that influence product quality, innovation and consumer experience.

This is an ideal role for someone with strong organisation skills, attention to detail and a passion for food. No previous experience in sensory testing is needed – we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

    What’s in it for you?
We believe in rewarding our colleagues and helping them thrive. Here’s a flavour of what we offer:

Competitive salary, plus KP Pension Plan with company-matched contributions up to 7%

25 days annual leave, with opportunities to earn additional days through attendance and long service

Support for your health and wellbeing, including an Employee Assistance Programme and access to everyday wellbeing resources

KP4ME benefits platform with discounts, cashback, wellbeing tools and everyday savings

Family-friendly support, including carer’s leave, dependent care leave and bereavement leave to support you when it matters most

    What will you be doing?

    Managing sample preparation and logistics
Supporting the sourcing, preparation and shipment of product samples across the UK Sensory Hub and other R&D sites to ensure testing runs smoothly

    Maintaining accurate sample records
Preparing, photographing and recording product details within Sensory Team systems to support consistent and reliable data

    Handling and organising products
Receiving, storing and managing samples in line with team processes, ensuring quality and consistency at every stage

    Supporting sensory test delivery
Preparing, distributing and disposing of food samples during testing sessions while maintaining high hygiene and accuracy standards

    Supporting sensory evaluation activities
Assisting with basic screening and test preparation following training to help assess product suitability for different testing methods

    Who are we?
We’re KP Snacks, part of the Intersnack family. Across more than 30 countries, over 15,000 of us work together to make the snacks people love – from Hula Hoops to McCoy’s. In the UK, we’re a team of around 2,400 colleagues, based across seven sites and our Slough HQ. We’re proud of our close-knit culture, where we speak up, celebrate differences and push boundaries together.

    We’re committed to inclusion
We’re building a workplace where everyone belongs. If you don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you – your unique perspective could be just what we need. And if there’s anything we can do to make the process easier for you, just let us know.

We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:

Strong organisation and attention to detail
You can manage multiple tasks accurately and keep things running smoothly, even when working to deadlines

    A hands-on, proactive approach
You are comfortable handling products, moving sample boxes and getting stuck into practical tasks

    Great teamwork and communication skills
You work well with others and communicate clearly with colleagues across different teams

    Good time management and flexibility
You can prioritise your workload and adapt to changing testing schedules

Ability to travel locally when needed
A full driving licence and access to a car would be beneficial to support sample collection from Sites or supermarkets
