How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Business Development Manager – Industrial Power Solutions
    Location: North UK / Hybrid Working
    Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum + Bonus up to 20% + Excellent Benefits

    Are you a driven Business Development Manager with experience in technical or engineered sales? Do you enjoy building long-term customer relationships and developing opportunities within critical infrastructure and industrial sectors? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected engineering business with a fantastic culture and long-term career prospects.

    About the Company

    We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected specialist power solutions provider supporting customers across the UK utilities and industrial sectors with bespoke power systems.

    They have built a strong reputation not only for technical excellence and customer service, but also for its people-first culture. As a family-orientated business, they pride themselves on creating an open, supportive, and collaborative working environment where employees are genuinely valued and recognised for their contributions. The leadership team actively promotes a positive culture where hard work is appreciated, ideas are encouraged, and the wellbeing of both employees and their families is important.

    With many long-serving team members and a strong emphasis on development, teamwork, and mutual respect, they offer a stable and rewarding environment where individuals can build long-term careers while being part of a close-knit and forward-thinking organisation.

    The Role

    As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for proactively developing customer relationships, managing existing accounts, and generating new business opportunities across the UK industrial power systems market.

    The role focuses heavily on relationship-led technical sales within utilities, infrastructure, and industrial environments, positioning the business as a trusted solutions partner rather than simply a supplier.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer & Account Management

    * Develop strong relationships with existing and prospective customers

    * Act as a key commercial contact for Industrial Power Systems products

    * Understand customer operational challenges, compliance requirements, and investment plans

    * Manage and grow a structured customer portfolio

    Business Development

    * Identify and pursue new opportunities within the power backup and energy infrastructure sectors

    * Promote the company’s technical capabilities and engineered solutions

    * Work closely with the wider sales and technical teams to develop account growth strategies

    Internal Collaboration

    * Liaise with Tendering, Design, and Production teams on customer requirements

    * Support smooth project handovers from order through to delivery

    * Provide market and competitor intelligence to support future growth

    Skills & Experience Required

    * Proven B2B sales experience within electrical power systems or critical power sectors

    * Experience selling into utilities, DNO, infrastructure, manufacturing, or industrial markets

    * Strong relationship-building and communication skills

    * Commercially aware with a consultative sales approach

    * Comfortable operating within technical and project-led environments

    * Experience with engineered or capital equipment solutions would be advantageous

    * Electrical or power systems knowledge highly desirable

    Salary & Benefits

    * £50,000 – £55,000 per annum

    * Company Performance-related bonus (circa 20%)

    * Company pension scheme (4% employer / 5% employee)

    * 21 days holiday + bank holidays (rising with service)

    * Cycle to work scheme

    * Life insurance

    * Company sick pay scheme

    * On-site parking

    * Hybrid working opportunities

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and people-focused engineering business where your contribution will be recognised and where genuine career progression is available
