How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    D R Newitt are working with a close client who due to growth are currently on the market for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

    The client are a highly respected and leading player within the Food Manufacturing indsutry and have been hugely succesful.

    On offer is a salary of £47,000-£48,000 DOE, plus benefits.

    This is a monday to friday, day shifts role.

    The position:

    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules, ensuring full

    * compliance with BRCGS Clause 4.7 (Maintenance)

    * Undertake reactive breakdown repairs promptly and safely to minimise downtime

    * Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production equipment including blending, conveying, filling, and packaging machinery

    * Maintain and support site utilities and services, including refrigeration, HVAC systems, and critical utilities prevents contamination risks

    * Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment

    * Comply fully with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974

    * Support and comply with HACCP principles, ensuring engineering activities do not introduce food safety risks

    * Maintain equipment and work areas to high hygiene and housekeeping standards in line with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)

    * Ensure all tools, lubricants, and materials used are suitable for food manufacturing (e.g., food-grade where required)

    * Continuous improvement

    Candidate specification:

    * Completed multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship

    * Level 3 qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering

    * Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environment

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills (electrical and mechanical)

    * Knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety standards, GMP, and HACCP principles

    * Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation

    * Competent IT skills, including CMMS systems

    * Excellent communication and teamwork skills
