How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Estimator
    Meridian are working with a growing Electrical contractor looking to drive the growth of their commercial team in their Scunthorpe office by hiring an Electrical Estimator. If you're looking to join a commercial contractor with a great reputation and strong foundation of repeat business across Scunthorpe, Humberside, Lincoln, and Doncaster areas then this opportunity is perfect for you. Typical contracts include commercial projects and modular builds, so this level of experience is required.

    Benefits include (but are not exclusive to):

    Starting salary between £55k - £65k p.a (DoE)
    Immediate start available (subject to successful application)
    Focus on local, regionalised work with repeat customers in Scunthorpe, Humberside, Lincoln, and Doncaster areas
    Flexible working available, with a mixture of WFH and office-based, sometimes with the need to attend site or client meetings

    20 days holiday, plus bank holidaysRequirements for the role:

    Existing commercial knowledge of pricing Electrical building services on a variety of commercial and modular build projects
    Ideally a working background within Electrical installations/building services
    Strong commercial awareness and numerical skills, combined with existing knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office programmes
    Ability to be client-facing and customer-service skills, with end users, supply chain members, and subcontractors
    Strong understanding of electrical drawings and 3D scans (such as AutoCAD software) to change and adapt to site restrictions
    Able to work with other members of the project and onsite teams to adapt and problem-solve
    Excellent timekeeping skills with an ability to work to deadlinesDuties include (but are not exclusive to):

    Working independently or as a larger team to draft electrical tenders for upcoming projects in the region
    Adapt existing tenders or pre-construction documents to suit changing project demands
    Analyse and interpret various designs and documents
    Produce cost-effective and compliant tenders with an understanding of building regulations, HSE, and electrical building services
    Working closely across communication channels to collaborate and problem solve any potential problems during pre-construction and tender processes
