How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our Oil & Gas Operator client based in Aberdeen is seeking is currently recruiting for the position of Lead Cost Engineer supporting their Projects Team

    What are we looking for:
     
    Previous Cost Lead experience, particularly if you have supervised a team
    Previous experience working in an Operator business
    Ideally you will already be based in the Aberdeen/Shire area.
    Available within a month or less.
    Have Major Capital Project experience – including wells, subsea etc
     
    Purpose of job:
     
    The provision of cost services for all activities in a prioritised and structured manner. To deliver controlled and predictable cost reporting with respect to the projects and work programs meeting regulatory, safety and business objectives. Provide support and alignment to all (Operations and Project) cost engineers throughout organisation.  Develop and implement consistent process ensuring effective integration
     
    Lead the Cost Team and be responsible for maintaining a rigorous control environment including; Cost estimating, Cost reporting, invoice review and general support services to the Assets/Projects.
     
    Key Responsibilities:

    Accountable for issuing high quality cost reporting, identifying and implementing improvements where necessary.
    Assess current estimation process across business, align, implement best practice and support continuous improvement.
    Manage Cost team effectively ensuring appropriate training, development and progression
    Work with Project Managers to ensure latest project status is reflected.
    Engage proactively with Finance Team to ensure alignment
    Ensure robust change management process is adopted
    Develop, measure, report and analyse KPI’s to bring focus to areas of concern and inform improvement plans.
    Ensure robust cost information available for CSRAs 
    Experience:

    Experience in all aspects of cost estimation, Engineering background; preferably qualified to HNC or equivalent level.
    Experience of major capital projects.
    Experience of working effectively within an Operator and interfacing with projects/operations.
    Good communications skills.
    Understand the basic aspects of projects (subsurface, wells, subsea, topsides and project management).
    Able to receive detailed information from various sources and filter at an appropriate and manageable level.
    Able to respond to the changing requirements of Senior Management as the projects moves through the evolving phases towards completion
    Proven supervision experience
    Ability to operate at a strategic level 
    Key Qualifications / Competencies:

    Business or Engineering background; preferably qualified to HNC or equivalent level.
    Accuracy and attention to detail.
    Demonstrated supervisory and leadership
    Ability to build a strong relationship with internal and external interfaces.
    Strong communications, networking and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work with and for multiple customers.
    Trusted and approachable.
