How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Aviation Workshop Tutor
    Bedfordshire
    Up to £49,000+ package

Boston Rose are working with a specialist education provider to recruit two Aviation Workshop Tutors for their aviation department based in Bedfordshire.

This role would suit someone from an aircraft maintenance, aerospace manufacturing or aviation engineering background looking to move into education, or an existing engineering trainer wanting a more workshop-focused role.

Our client is particularly interested in candidates with strong practical “hand skills” and real workshop experience. They want someone who can confidently demonstrate core aerospace engineering techniques and pass those practical skills on to apprentices.

You’ll be delivering hands-on training and assessment across areas including:

    • Hand fitting
    • Riveting and aircraft fasteners
    • Sheet metal work
    • Structural repairs
    • Engineering drawings
    • Safe workshop practice and tool usage

Our client is open to candidates coming straight from industry and can support with teaching and assessor qualifications where needed.

What the college are looking for:

    • Aerospace or aviation engineering industry experience
    • Strong practical workshop and hand skills
    • Experience using engineering hand tools and carrying out precision work
    • An Assessor's Award (A1/D32/D33/TAQA) (this is essential)
    • Passion for supporting and developing learners

In return, our client can offer:

    • Salary up to £49,696
    • Teacher’s Pension Scheme
    • 50 days of annual leave
    • Excellent training and development opportunities
    • A unique aviation environment with strong links to Britain’s aerospace heritage
    • Impressive surroundings and specialist engineering facilities - a genuinely interesting place to work and train apprentice!

This is a full-time permanent position based on-site.
