How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Site Engineer – Civils / Infrastructure / Energy

    Works accross North of England | Permanent | £45000 - £58000 DOE - Strong package + long-term progression

Want to work on real infrastructure schemes rather than being stuck on one repetitive job?

This is a great opportunity for a Site Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering projects across energy, infrastructure, ports, rail, industrial, highways and complex civils throughout the North of England and Scotland.

The role would suit someone who enjoys technically interesting work, varied sites, and being part of a business that can keep you moving across different sectors instead of pigeonholing you.

If you have experience working around National Grid sites, substations, energy infrastructure, power, utilities or high-security/regulated environments, this could be a very strong fit. NG Persons / National Grid Persons would be highly desirable.

    The role:

You’ll be responsible for supporting site delivery through accurate engineering, setting out, quality checks and technical coordination on live civil engineering projects.

    Duties include:

    *

Setting out for civils, RC, drainage, ducting, concrete, foundations, roads and infrastructure works

    *

Working from drawings, RAMS, permits and technical documentation

    *

QA records, ITPs, as-builts and site paperwork

    *

Liaising with site managers, project managers, subcontractors and clients

    *

Ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and to specification

    *

Supporting delivery on live infrastructure and energy-related schemes

    Ideal background:

    *

Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer experience

    *

Civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, energy, power, substation or industrial project experience

    *

Experience working around National Grid, substations, transmission, distribution, power, cable routes or regulated sites is desirable

    *

NG Persons / National Grid Persons highly desirable - not essential

    *

Comfortable travelling across projects in the North of England and Scotland

    *

HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar preferred
