The Transport Planner is responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of a dedicated section of the fleet, ensuring agreed service levels are maintained while maximising vehicle utilisation and customer satisfaction.
Main Responsibilities
Efficiently plan and route the fleet of vehicles to maximise productivity and profitability
Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and subcontractors
Accurately process jobs using transport management software
Prepare and provide quotations for customers
Support drivers with job information and assist in resolving operational issues
Ensure drivers comply with hours and working time regulations
Ensure all vehicles comply with relevant legislation and company standards
Optimise vehicle allocation and rotation to improve efficiency and productivity
Schedule vehicles for inspections, servicing, and repairs as required
Monitor service levels, vehicle utilisation, and customer satisfaction targetsQualifications / Skills
Previous experience in vehicle routing and fleet planning
Strong customer service and communication skills
Competent computer skills and familiarity with transport management systemsPersonal Attributes
