How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Teacher of Resistant Materials – Sheffield

    Location: Sheffield
    Contract: Permanent
    Start Date: September 2026
    Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

    PK Education are working with a Sheffield secondary school who are looking to appoint a Resistant Materials Teacher on a permanent basis from September 2026.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Design Technology department with strong leadership, excellent workshop facilities, and a genuine commitment to practical learning.

    The school places significant value on vocational and practical subjects, with Resistant Materials remaining a popular option at KS4. The department benefits from dedicated technician support, allowing teachers to focus on delivering engaging and hands-on lessons.

    You will be teaching Resistant Materials across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop practical workshop skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in designing and manufacturing products.

    The school are looking for someone who can bring enthusiasm to the subject, maintain high standards of health and safety, and inspire students through practical learning.

    The Role

    Teaching Resistant Materials across KS3 and KS4
    Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory lessons
    Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback
    Promoting safe working practices within the workshop environment
    Contributing to the wider DT department and curriculum development

    What We're Looking For

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
    Experience teaching Resistant Materials within a secondary school setting
    Strong classroom and workshop management skills
    Passion for practical learning and student achievement

    The school has a supportive senior leadership team, good behaviour systems, and a collaborative department where staff share ideas and resources.
