How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Admissions Advisor

    We are currently looking for a Senior Admissions Advisor join our Admissions Team in Newcastle.

    Are you passionate about widening participation in higher education and supporting learners on their journey to success? This is a role for someone who thrives on providing personalised admissions support, managing complex applications, and contributing to innovative admissions frameworks. As a Senior Admissions Advisor, you’ll play a key role in helping applicants navigate their path to higher education, ensuring they are assessed, supported, and prepared for success.

    What we are looking for:

    * Managing applications from enquiry to enrolment, providing high-quality, personalised support to applicants, including those returning to education or entering via non-traditional routes.

    * Conducting structured admissions interviews to assess academic readiness, motivation, and support needs, while ensuring compliance with admissions frameworks.

    * Acting as a senior point of contact for applicants, offering advice on entry routes, funding options, and progression opportunities.

    * Providing day-to-day guidance to Admissions Advisors, supporting consistent decision-making and service delivery.

    * Collaborating with partnership colleagues to align admissions processes with institutional policies and quality standards.

    * Supporting process improvement by contributing to the development of interview frameworks, assessment tools, and decision-making guidelines.

    * Proactively engaging with applicants to support conversion and retention,identifying risks to enrolment and coordinating support where needed.

    * Participating in outreach and community engagement activities to promote the partnership and its widening participation mission.

    Person Specification

    Education

    * Educated to A Level or above.

    Experience (Desirable)

    * Experience in interview-led or holistic admissions processes.

    * Familiarity with UK higher education systems, Student Finance England, or widening participation initiatives.

    * Experience working with non-traditional or mature learners.

    * Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues.

    * Understanding of university partnership working environments.

    * Experience using CRM systems and student record databases.

    Skills

    * Significant experience in admissions, student services, or recruitment within further or higher education.

    * Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.

    * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

    * A commitment to equity, cultural awareness, and widening participation.

    In particular, you will:

    * Treat all students and staff with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect.

    * Have regard for the need to safeguard students’ well-being, developing and maintaining a full understanding of current policies and procedures.

    * Show tolerance of and respect for the rights of others.

    * Maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.

    * Help to create and maintain a safe working environment for everyone.
