How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Groundworker / Bricklayer Multi-Trade Operative
    Location: Bedfordshire and surrounding areas 
    Salary: £38,600
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

    Fortus Recruitment provides specialist recruitment services, supplying quality candidates on a temporary or permanent basis to leading organisations throughout the industry.

    We are currently looking for an experienced Groundworker / Bricklayer Multi-Trade Operative to join our growing team working across Bedfordshire and surrounding areas on social housing repair and maintenance contracts.

    This is a mobile role carrying out a variety of reactive and planned repair works to occupied and void properties. A company van and fuel card will be supplied.

    Key Responsibilities

    Brickwork repairs and repointing
    Slab laying, paving and fencing repairs
    Concrete and drainage repairs
    Groundworks including excavation and reinstatement
    Carrying out general multi-trade repair works where required
    Working within occupied social housing properties and communal areas
    Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and in line with health & safety requirements
    Providing excellent customer service to tenants and clients
    Requirements

    Proven experience as a Groundworker and Bricklayer
    Experience working within social housing or domestic repairs environment preferred
    Ability to carry out multi-trade works beneficial
    Full UK driving licence required
    Good communication and customer service skills
    Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
