How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you AAT qualified to Level 3 or above and looking to take the next step in your accounting career?

    A highly regarded accountancy practice near Derby is looking for a capable and motivated accountant to join their team — offering a fantastic environment to put your skills to work, continue your development, and build a rewarding long-term career in practice.

    The Role
    This is a great opportunity for someone who holds their AAT Level 3 qualification or higher and is ready to get stuck into a varied and interesting practice role. You'll work across a broad client portfolio, gaining solid hands-on exposure to accounts preparation, tax, and wider practice work — all within a supportive and experienced team that is committed to helping you grow.

    Key Responsibilities

    Preparation of accounts for a varied portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
    Assisting with the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
    Supporting with VAT returns and management accounts as required
    Liaising with clients in a professional and confident manner, building strong working relationships
    Working closely with senior members of the team and contributing to the smooth running of the practice
    Keeping up to date with relevant accounting standards and legislative changes What We're Looking For

    AAT qualified to Level 3 or above — this is the key requirement for the role
    Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is highly desirable
    Solid understanding of accounts preparation and basic tax principles
    Proficient with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar
    Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills
    A positive, professional attitude with genuine ambition to progress
    AAT bookkeeping qualification is not required, but would be considered a bonus
