How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Heavy Plant Engineer

    Manchester

    £20 – £22 Per Hour + Overtime (OTE £60k to £75k) + Door to Door + Company Van

    The Company

    We’re working with a well-established specialist within the recycling and waste equipment sector, supporting some of the UK’s largest recycling operations, waste processing facilities and industrial sites.

    The business is continuing to grow across the UK and is looking for an experienced Field Service Heavy Plant Engineer to join the team, working on high-performance shredders and recycling machinery in demanding environments.

    This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys fault finding, travelling and working on large heavy-duty equipment.

    The Role

    As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll be travelling across Manchester and the wider UK carrying out servicing, maintenance and breakdown repairs on shredders and recycling equipment.

    The role will involve:

    Service, maintenance and repair of industrial shredders and recycling machinery
    Diagnosing hydraulic, electrical and mechanical faults
    Attending breakdowns across customer sites
    Carrying out inspections and preventative maintenance
    Working in demanding recycling and waste environments
    Completing service reports and paperwork accurately
    Representing the business professionally on customer sites

    The Candidate

    The ideal candidate will have:

    Experience working on heavy plant, shredders, recycling equipment, crushers, screeners or similar machinery
    Strong hydraulic, electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
    Experience in field service environments
    Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
    Full UK Driving Licence
    Willingness to travel across the UK when required
