How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Quality Manager (Single site - Food / Poultry Manufacturing)

    Location: Preston, Lancashire, UK

    Salary: £42,000 - £46,000 pa dependent on experience.

    About Gafoor:

    Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers.

    About the role:

    We are looking to recruit Quality Manager who will take on responsibility for leading a team of quality controllers within our facility. The primary focus of the role will be to ensure that all products achieve the highest standards of food safety and meet a wide range of customer specifications.

    This is a hands-on role, where your presence within the factory will ensure we continue to drive a culture of continuous improvement and ensure that the customer is always front and centre in our minds.

    You will need to have worked in a similar manufacturing environment and have at least 3 years' experience managing a team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead and manage a team of QA's in their day to day work across all departments
    Stand in for the Technical Manager when required
    Through visible leadership, ensure that a positive quality culture is encouraged, continuous improvement sustained, and best practices are shared
    Contribute ideas for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all quality systems
    In partnership with the wider team, support the development and introduction of all new products, including the effective execution of trials and taste panels
    Assist with internal and audits
    Monitor and update improvement plans for customer complaints and non-conformances
    Provide technical support to
    the hygiene team and production teamsAbout you:

    Essential attributes and skills:

    A minimum of 3 years' experience managing a team in a similar environment in the UK.
    Degree in food science or equivalent with experience of HACCP, traceability and general food safety or equivalent on the job experience
    Experience within a BRC food production / manufacturing site within the UK
    Strong communication skills and the assertiveness to challenge others where necessary
    Strong work and team ethic, able to motivate and inspire others
    Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at any one time
    Excellent I.T skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    Auditing skills
