How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mobile Fabric Engineer

    West Midlands - Birmingham

    £28,000 - £30,000 + Van + Fuel Card

    Brief

    Mobile Fabric Engineer needed for a well-known, large Facilities Management organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Fabric Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of planned and reactive fabric maintenance, meeting KPIs and SLAs and completing remedial works.

    The successful candidate would desirably have relevant experience in fabric maintenance in a commercial setting and have a keen interest in fabric engineering. If you have a relevant qualification or apprenticeship that would be a plus!

    What the role entails:

    Some of the main duties of the Mobile Fabric Engineer will include:

    Carry out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across all building areas, including joinery, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, tiling, flooring, roofing, fence fitting, ground repair, door repair and general building repairs
    Complete minor repairs and remedial works to doors, windows, locks, ironmongery, ceilings, walls, fixtures and fittings
    Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to required specifications and within set timeframes
    Respond promptly to reactive tasks to reduce disruption and meet contractual KPIs and SLAs
    Identify building fabric defects, recommend remedial actions and provide accurate material lists and timescales
    Ensure building fabric assets are kept safe, secure and in good condition across all sites
    Participate in the on‑call rotaWhat experience you need to be the successful Mobile Fabric Engineer:

    Desirable Post‑apprenticeship experience
    Strong knowledge of building fabric systems
    (Desirable) Recognised apprenticeship (City & Guilds or equivalent)
    Valid driving licence
    Experience in schools, PFI or public‑sector environments
    Knowledge of associated M&E systems (Desirable)This role includes a DBS Enhanced with Barred Lists, therefore ability to pass is essential.
