How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Salary: £15.37 to £16.78 per hour and annual salary between £27,463 and £29,982 depending on skills and experience

    Category: Education

Position Type: Permanent Full-Time Term Time Only

    Location: Mansfield

Reporting to: School or Hub Lead

Are you passionate about transforming the lives of young people? Do you thrive in environments where every day is different, and every interaction has purpose? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and proactive Pastoral Lead to join our team at our Schools. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our provision, supporting the wellbeing, personal development and success of our students — many of whom have complex needs, SEND profiles, or barriers to learning.

    About the Role

As our Pastoral Lead, you will play a central role in creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where students can thrive. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, parents/carers and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and ensure every young person feels supported, valued and heard.

    Your work will include:

    * Providing daily pastoral and wellbeing support

    * Offering conflict resolution, mediation and de-briefs

    * Delivering 1:1 interventions and tutorial support

    * Supporting attendance, behaviour and safeguarding processes

    * Facilitating student voice activities including student council, questionnaires and meetings

    * Supporting PSHE delivery and whole-school wellbeing initiatives

    * Building strong, positive relationships with parents, carers and the wider community

    * Attending multi-agency and safeguarding meetings

    * Recording, monitoring and analysing pastoral data to inform student programmes

    * Providing cover and line management where required

You will be a key figure in shaping a therapeutic, welcoming environment where students feel safe, respected and empowered.

    What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

    * A Level 3 qualification (or above) in a relevant area

    * English and Maths at Level 2

    * Extensive experience in a pastoral or wellbeing role

    * Experience supporting young people with SEND, ASC or mental health needs

    * A strong understanding of safeguarding in education

    * The ability to remain calm, reflective and solution-focused in challenging situations

    * Experience using a range of strategies to de-escalate behaviour

    * A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

Experience in a school, AP or college environment is desirable but not essential.

    How to apply?

Please complete an online application form in full, remembering to include all employment and education details.

Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Education Group is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

The Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young adults in our care and is a disability confident and equal opportunities employer.

This advert could be taken down at any point in time without prior notice if the position is filled. Please note that candidates that are shortlisted might be subject to an online search.
