We are supporting a leading engineering delivery partner working on behalf of bp at the forefront of the UK's net zero transition. This is a unique opportunity to join a landmark programme shaping the future of low-carbon energy across the Teesside and Humber regions.
The wider initiative forms part of the East Coast Cluster, one of the UK's most ambitious decarbonisation programmes, supporting carbon capture, hydrogen production, and low-carbon power generation. At peak, the programme is expected to store up to 23 million tonnes of CO₂ per annum by 2035, while enabling new industrial growth and clean energy infrastructure.
This role sits within a critical workstream focused on onshore pipelines, HV infrastructure, and associated civil works, supporting major projects including Net Zero Teesside Power and hydrogen development schemes.
The Role
As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a key role within the EPCm delivery team, ensuring all activities meet contractual, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
You will drive quality assurance across engineering, procurement, and construction phases, leading audits, managing non-conformances, and embedding continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Execution: Plan and deliver internal and external audits in line with project specifications, contractual requirements, and quality systems
Contractual Compliance: Interpret and apply project-specific quality requirements across all delivery phases
Documentation Review: Verify quality documentation including ITPs, Quality Plans, and supplier records
Non-Conformance Management: Identify, track, and resolve non-conformances through structured corrective and preventative actions
Root Cause Analysis: Lead systematic, evidence-based investigations focused on long-term prevention
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate across engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure quality expectations are achieved
Reporting: Produce detailed audit reports, KPIs, and dashboards for internal and client stakeholders
Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements to quality systems and processes using audit insights and best practice
About You
HNC (or equivalent) in Quality Management or a technical discipline
Minimum 7 years' experience in QA within EPCm project environments
Strong technical knowledge of pipelines and welding codes (BS 4515 and/or API 1104)
In-depth understanding of ISO 9001 and auditing standards (ISO 19011)
Certified Lead Auditor
Experience supporting projects through mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Desirable Experience
Oil & gas, petrochemical, or infrastructure project background
Membership of CQI
Previous pipeline inspection/engineering experience
Familiarity with Right First Time (R1T) and Self-Verification & Oversight (SV&O) processes
Experience managing both site and offsite quality assurance activities
Proficiency with quality systems and MS Office tools
