How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Engineer
    Contract
    Aldermaston

    Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting complex engineering projects within highly regulated environments?

    Do you enjoy producing technical documentation, engineering calculations and supporting projects from concept through to delivery?

    Would you like to work for a growing SME delivering specialist packages of work directly into AWE?

    What will you be doing?
    • Producing mechanical engineering documentation and design deliverables
    • Supporting concept, scheme and detailed design activities
    • Carrying out engineering calculations, assessments and technical reports
    • Supporting project delivery across design, manufacture, installation and testing activities
    • Attending project meetings and design reviews with internal teams and clients
    • Providing technical support across subcontract and project activities
    • Reviewing engineering outputs and ensuring technical quality standards are met

    Where will you be doing it?
    • Our client is a growing engineering SME delivering specialist mechanical engineering packages into AWE and the wider nuclear sector. They operate as a trusted subcontract partner on complex and highly regulated projects, offering a more agile and hands on environment than many of the larger organisations on site.

    What will you need?
    • SC or DV clearance
    • Degree or HND qualification within a mechanical engineering discipline
    • Experience working within nuclear or other highly regulated industries
    • Experience producing engineering calculations, reports and technical documentation
    • Strong understanding of project delivery within an engineering environment
    • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors and clients
    • Competent with MS Office and general engineering documentation processes
