How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Field Service Manager – Forklift Trucks / Materials Handling
    Birmingham | Field Based | £40,000 - £50,000 + Bonus + Vehicle

    A well-established and highly respected materials handling dealership is looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Manager to lead and develop its mobile engineering operation across the Midlands region.

    This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for managing a team of field-based forklift engineers while ensuring exceptional customer service, strong operational performance and profitable aftersales delivery.

    The Role

    You will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the field engineering team, ensuring breakdowns, servicing, inspections and repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Managing and supporting a team of field service engineers

    * Planning engineer workloads and regional coverage

    * Monitoring engineer productivity, utilisation and response times

    * Supporting engineers with technical fault diagnosis and escalations

    * Managing customer relationships and resolving service-related issues

    * Ensuring LOLER, health & safety and manufacturer compliance standards are maintained

    * Conducting engineer reviews, coaching and recruitment

    * Working closely with service administration and parts departments

    * Driving aftersales performance, labour recovery and service profitability

    * Carrying out customer site visits across warehousing, logistics and industrial accounts

    The Candidate

    * Proven experience within forklift trucks, materials handling or related capital equipment sectors

    * Strong background managing mobile engineers or service operations

    * Technical understanding of forklift trucks and associated equipment

    * Commercially aware with strong organisational skills

    * Calm under pressure and capable of managing a fast-paced operation

    * Strong customer-facing and leadership abilities

    * Experience managing KPIs, engineer performance and service delivery
