How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

The Environmental Advisor will provide operational environmental support across multiple construction and infrastructure project sites throughout the Highlands region of Scotland. Working closely with project delivery teams, subcontractors, specialists, and stakeholders, the role will help ensure environmental compliance, support sustainable construction practices, and contribute to the successful delivery of project environmental objectives. The position will involve a hands-on presence across active sites, supporting environmental management activities, regulatory requirements, monitoring programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives within dynamic construction environments.

    Responsibilities

    *

Deliver day-to-day environmental support across multiple live construction sites, ensuring compliance with project requirements, environmental legislation, and company standards.

    *

Work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, designers, waste contractors, and environmental specialists to integrate environmental considerations into construction activities.

    *

Assist in the preparation, implementation, and close-out of environmental management plans, method statements, and site-specific documentation.

    *

Support the discharge of planning conditions, permit requirements, and environmental consents associated with project activities.

    *

Promote environmental awareness across site teams through briefings, toolbox talks, and ongoing engagement.

    *

Manage environmental reporting systems, including monitoring waste, sustainability performance, incidents, and compliance data.

    *

Produce regular environmental reports and performance updates in line with client and company reporting requirements.

    *

Participate in environmental assessments and sustainability accreditation schemes such as CEEQUAL or equivalent programmes.

    *

Assist in establishing and maintaining site noise monitoring programmes, including attended monitoring where required.

    *

Coordinate specialist environmental surveys, monitoring activities, and mitigation measures across project sites.

    *

Respond to environmental incidents or urgent site issues, including occasional out-of-hours support where necessary.

    *

Support the achievement of project environmental targets, sustainability commitments, and client objectives.

    *

Participate in training, auditing, and professional development opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and capability.

    *

Provide environmental support to other project locations when required for audits, temporary cover, or specialist assistance.

    *

Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role in support of wider project and business requirements.

    The Ideal Candidate

    *

Previous experience in an Environmental Coordinator, Environmental Advisor, or similar role within construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, or related industries.

    *

Knowledge of environmental legislation, planning conditions, permits, and construction-related environmental risks.

    *

Experience working with contractors, clients, regulatory bodies, and specialist consultants.

    *

Familiarity with environmental monitoring activities, waste management processes, and sustainability reporting.

    *

Interest or experience in noise management and environmental monitoring programmes would be advantageous.

    *

Proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work independently across multiple project locations.

    *

Degree qualified in an environmental discipline or equivalent experience preferred.

    *

Membership of a relevant professional body such as IEMA, or working towards professional accreditation, desirable.

    *

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across project sites within Scotland and occasionally further afield as required
