We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Workshop Manual Engineer to join our customer on a maternity cover basis. This role plays a critical part in creating and maintaining high-quality Workshop Service Manual (WSM) content within an advanced digital platform.
You will ensure that all technical content puts the technician experience first, delivering clear, accurate, and structured repair procedures that support efficient vehicle servicing and maintenance.
Location: Coventry
Rate: £30.60 per hour
Contract: Fixed term (Maternity Cover until April 2027)
Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain Workshop Service Manual (WSM) content within the system
Develop clear, accurate, and technician-focused repair instructions
Conduct virtual validation of procedures using CAD tools
Carry out physical validation using prototype and production vehicles to ensure:
Accuracy
Feasibility
Repeatability
Identify and communicate serviceability and repair issues, providing well-reasoned solutions
Investigate and resolve technician feedback to continuously improve content quality and usability
Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including:
Engineering teams
Service programme leads
Technical platform leads
Tooling teams
Global market representativesEssential:
Knowledge of whole vehicle systems and understanding of the latest vehicle technologies
Good communication, interpersonal skills
Working experience of CAD 3DX, Vis Mock Up or other CAD tools
Ability to prioritise the technician experience with discussions with JLR stakeholders
Qualified vehicle technicianDesirable:
Understanding of franchised retailer workshops
Automotive serviceability knowledge
UK Driving licence
Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)Personal profile:
Strong knowledge of automotive repair, diagnostics, and workshop processes (experience in franchised retail workshops highly desirable).
