How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Manual Miller / Machine Operator – Manufacturing

    We are currently recruiting for a Manual Miller / Machine Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Hayes.

    This role would suit someone with previous experience operating workshop machinery within a manufacturing or engineering environment who is looking to further develop their machining skills within a busy machine shop.

    The company is looking for someone with a good mechanical aptitude, strong work ethic and hands-on manufacturing experience who can be trained and developed within the role.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate manual workshop and drilling machinery
    Assist with manual milling and machining operations
    Work from engineering drawings and production instructions
    Carry out basic inspection and quality checks
    Support general machine shop and production activities
    Maintain good housekeeping and workshop standards
    Work closely with production and engineering teams
    Follow health & safety procedures at all times

    Skills & Experience Required

    Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or machine shop environment
    Experience operating machinery such as:

    Pillar drills
    Vertical drilling machines
    Manual workshop machinery

    Good hands-on engineering or mechanical aptitude
    Willingness to learn and develop machining skills
    Reliable and proactive approach to work
    Ability to work as part of a team
    Basic understanding of engineering drawings would be beneficial
