How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor – Water Infrastructure

📍 Southampton / Portsmouth / Chichester (Hybrid Working)
    💧 Water Sector | Major Long-Term Frameworks
    💼 Permanent Opportunity

Our client is one of the UK’s leading construction and infrastructure businesses, recognised for delivering complex and high-profile projects across the utilities, highways, rail, aviation, and environmental sectors. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, sustainability, and professional development, they offer long-term career opportunities within a progressive and people-focused environment.

Their Environment division delivers major “source to sea” infrastructure solutions across the UK and Scotland through long-term frameworks and standalone capital projects. Having successfully delivered over £2bn worth of infrastructure schemes since AMP3, the business continues to grow through significant AMP7 and AMP8 investment programmes.

Due to an expanding pipeline of secured work through to 2035, they are now looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major water infrastructure projects across the South East.

    The Role

Reporting into the commercial leadership team, the successful candidate will support the commercial management and financial performance of either a major project or a portfolio of smaller schemes within a long-term water framework environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to further develop their career within a major infrastructure business delivering complex utilities projects under NEC contracts.

Flexible hybrid working is available between office, site, and home.

    Key Responsibilities

Support the creation and maintenance of a safe and compliant working environment.

Assist with subcontract procurement including preparation of subcontract documentation, negotiation of terms, pricing, and programme agreements.

Manage subcontract packages including valuations, variations, payments, and final accounts.

Produce and issue contractual notices in accordance with NEC contracts.

Support the management of Compensation Events and change control procedures.

Prepare and submit monthly client applications for payment.

Liaise with operational and engineering teams to ensure accurate site records are maintained.

Assist in producing CVRs, commercial reports, forecasts, and cost plans.

Support risk and opportunity management to maximise commercial performance.

Participate in client, subcontractor, and progress meetings.

Maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the supply chain.

Assist in monitoring framework KPIs and business performance targets.

Support commercial governance and ensure accurate reporting against deadlines.

    About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a civil engineering or utilities environment and possess a strong understanding of commercial management processes under NEC contracts.

    Requirements

Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, water, utilities, rail, highways, or infrastructure sectors.

Good understanding of NEC forms of contract.

Experience with subcontract management, change control, and commercial reporting.

Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Experience using systems such as CEMAR, Asite, Orbit, or similar commercial platforms.

Good organisational and time management skills.

    CSCS card relevant to role.

    Desirable

Water industry or AMP framework experience.

Professional qualification or working towards MRICS / MCIOB accreditation.

Exposure to multiple schemes or major infrastructure projects.

    What’s on Offer

Long-term secured work through AMP8 and beyond.

    Flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Structured career progression and development opportunities.

Exposure to major UK infrastructure projects.

    Collaborative and supportive team culture.

    Competitive salary and benefits package.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established infrastructure business delivering critical water projects across the South East, with long-term security and outstanding progression potential.
