How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Senior Quantity Surveyor โ€“ Water Infrastructure

๐Ÿ“ Southampton / Portsmouth / Chichester (Hybrid Working)
    ๐Ÿ’ง Water Sector | Major Long-Term Frameworks
    ๐Ÿ’ผ Permanent Opportunity

Our client is a leading UK construction and infrastructure business delivering major projects across the water, highways, rail, aviation, and utilities sectors. With a strong reputation for excellence, innovation, and long-term project delivery, they offer employees the opportunity to work on complex, high-value infrastructure frameworks with genuine career progression and stability.

Their Environment division delivers end-to-end asset solutions across the UK, supporting major water and wastewater programmes through long-term framework agreements and standalone capital projects. Having successfully delivered billions of pounds worth of infrastructure projects since AMP3, the business continues to expand as part of a significant AMP8 investment programme.

Due to sustained growth and a secured pipeline of work through to 2035, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen the commercial team across major water infrastructure projects in the South East.

    The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of either a major project or multiple smaller schemes within a long-term water framework environment. Working closely with operational, engineering, and commercial teams, you will ensure robust financial control, effective change management, and strong contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a hybrid position with flexibility between office, site, and home working.

    Key Responsibilities

Promote and support a strong health, safety, and compliance culture.

Manage subcontract procurement including negotiation of terms, pricing, and programme requirements.

Administer subcontract packages including valuations, variations, and final accounts.

Produce and issue contractual notices in accordance with NEC forms of contract.

Manage Compensation Events and change control processes through CEMAR.

Prepare and agree monthly applications for payment with the client.

Produce detailed CVRs, cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.

Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

Maintain detailed cost plans and expenditure forecasts.

Liaise closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure accurate site records and reporting.

Attend client, progress, and risk reduction meetings.

Support tendering and pre-construction activities including contract reviews and identifying onerous clauses.

Mentor and support junior commercial staff within the team.

Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.

    About You

The successful candidate will be commercially astute, proactive, and highly organised, with strong experience operating within a civil engineering or utilities environment.

    Requirements

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities, water, highways, rail, or infrastructure projects.

Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.

Experience managing change control and Compensation Events.

Strong understanding of CVRs, forecasting, cost planning, and commercial reporting.

Experience using commercial systems such as CEMAR, Asite, or similar.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong negotiation and subcontract management experience.

Ability to manage multiple schemes and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

    CSCS card relevant to role.

    Desirable

Water sector or AMP framework experience.

Professional membership or working towards MRICS / MCIOB accreditation.

    Whatโ€™s on Offer

Long-term secured workload through AMP8 and beyond.

    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

    Excellent career progression opportunities.

Opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects.

    Supportive and collaborative team environment.

    Competitive salary and benefits package.

If you are a commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to join a major infrastructure programme with long-term security and progression opportunities, we would like to hear from you.
